TIME TO “STAND” FOR FALL

As I put away the red, white and blue of Labor Day, I begin to feel the warmth (literally, in Texas) of the season while I anticipate the crispness in the air of fall. I enjoy all the hues and scents that are just around the corner (fall technically starts September 22). My next few posts will be about the fall season and how to decorate, set your table and cook for fall entertaining. All the stores have been selling pumpkins for a few months now and I am finally ready to partake in the festivities. I am never one to be late to the party.

Fall is best represented by selecting a color palette you will use throughout your home. I particularly like the white and silver with a splash of green color scheme. I may actually carry this over into Halloween and just add black. The color combination choices are endless. Just pick your favorite.

I first decorate my three-tiered-stand each season. I prefer to use a farmhouse bead garland on every stand – I just really like them. I also like to make my own bead garlands. You can order the beads from Amazon https://amzn.to/3hirDms and paint them any color. There are many instructional videos on Pinterest on making the bead garlands. It is an easy and fun project. Beyond that, your only limitation is the size of your stand.

You can paint the wooden beads any color you want.
String the beads and you have a garland.

My stand gets lots of love in the house and is very full. I use many different things to fill it up from gnomes to greenery to plump pumpkins. I am infatuated with gnomes! You can find them everywhere now and in every color for every season. They are very whimsical and add something very distinct (I think) to your schematic.  You can’t go wrong with these handsome little fellas.

Now let’s add some pumpkins to your fall stand. Pumpkins come in a myriad of colors and shapes and even textures. Fall decorations would not be complete without plump pumpkins! I found them this year in several sizes and fabrics at local craft stores and even Amazon. You are not confined to the traditional color of orange so branch out and try something new!

At this point you should be proud of yourself! Your stand is getting full and is very festive. Now just add a little greenery and a few holiday signs and you are all set. I tend to leave some of the greenery from season to season but you can do what you feel is best for your color scheme. The fall sky is the limit.

My red, white and blue décor has been up for four months now and through several holidays.  It is time for fall to take a “stand.”  Fall foliage and pumpkin spice everything is right around the corner. I so enjoy this time of the year when things cool off and slow down a bit, before the hustle and bustle of the holidays. I hope you enjoy starting your fall decorating. Come back next week to see how to decorate your table.

Be the reason someone smiles today!
